Title: Interoperability and Scalability of Internet of Things through Scalable and Secure Edge, Cloud and Application Layer Protocols
Summary:
The recent advance of Edge and Cloud Computing is offering new opportunities for IoT devices integration. The capability to
virtualize devices, to separate network segments through edge, fog and cloud layers and to distribute computing at the border is offering new possibilities in the integration of devices working with different communication technologies and designed by different companies. In this context, novel security mechanisms need to be designed to fulfill the emergent paradigm of edge computing, Moreover, novel mechanisms at application layer should be enabled to differentiate QoS, security and energy consumption among IoT devices. Virtualization and Distributed Computing will support this technology progress and novel IoT oriented application in the automotive, smart cities, healthcare and energy sectors will benefit from an holistic approach driven by higher layer protocols.
